DMEA Conducting Maintenance & Power Pole Replacements in Delta County

September 4, 2024

Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) is working with its contractor, Wasatch Electric, to replace approximately 400 power poles and perform preventative maintenance on an additional 100 poles in Delta County. The work began today, September 4, 2024, and will predominantly take place near Hotchkiss, CO, and along Redlands Mesa.

Wasatch may need to access members’ properties by vehicle, ATV, or on foot in order to complete their work. Their vehicles will be clearly marked with DMEA contractor labels. DMEA asks for its members’ cooperation in allowing contractors access to poles located on private property.

The co-op is undertaking this massive maintenance project to aid the construction of Elevate’s fiber optic network in the unserved areas of Delta County, including Lazear, Redlands Mesa, Rogers Mesa, and along CO State HWY 92. DMEA’s fiber broadband subsidiary, Elevate Internet, will bring high-speed internet service to these areas over the next 18 months as part of its Reconnect 3 grant project.

DMEA members can preregister for Elevate’s fiber internet service, determine if their home is located within the Reconnect 3 grant area, and monitor progress at elevateinternet.com.
