DMEA Appoints Metheny as New District 2 Director
November 10, 2023 — Last night, DMEA's Board of Directors appointed Steve Metheny to fill the vacant District 2 board seat. Metheny's appointment to DMEA's nine-member board begins immediately, and his term will expire in 2024 when District 2 is up for election. Metheny will have the option to run as a candidate in the 2024 election.
"We welcome Steve back to DMEA. His historical knowledge and industry expertise will certainly be valuable assets," said DMEA CEO Jack Johnston.
Metheny holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in electrical engineering and spent the bulk of his engineering career employed at DMEA. Starting as an electrical engineer in 1981, Metheny served members until 2018 in numerous roles, including system engineering, energy efficiency, renewable energy development, and grid communications.
Metheny also brings experience in higher education to DMEA's board, currently serving as the Colorado Mesa University Montrose Campus Director. He is also active in many community organizations, serving on the Board of Directors for the Montrose Economic Development Corporate and the advisory board of Western Colorado Workforce.
"Steve is strongly rooted in our community, and we are confident he will help DMEA continue meeting our members' diverse needs," said Johnston.
