Applications Now Open for Youth Leadership Camps

Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) is now accepting applications for 2026 Youth Leadership Camps. These all-expenses-paid summer programs offer local high school students the opportunity to develop leadership skills, learn about the electric cooperative industry, and connect with peers from across the state and the nation.
“These camps are an incredible opportunity for students to grow as leaders, make lifelong friendships, and represent our local communities,” said DMEA Chief Administrative Officer Kent Blackwell. “We’re proud to support the next generation through programs like these.”
Each summer, DMEA sponsors up to three local students to attend the Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and one student to attend the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. Both programs are designed to inspire the next generation of leaders by blending hands-on learning, teamwork, and adventure.
Jacey Wilson of Montrose attended the Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp last summer and described the experience as transformative.
“I was nervous to go at first, but I quickly realized everyone else felt the same,” said Jacey. “Camp taught me to value the small steps that lead to success and the connections that help you get there. It gave me new confidence, friendships, and perspective. Everyone should experience something as meaningful as this camp.”
